Melbourne’s Astra Chamber Music Society has for many years provided a cultural enclave for musical modernism, and this recording of Australian piano works is no different. This is both a wonderful portrait of William Barton’s didjeridu playing and a beautiful collection of works written for and with didjeridu (as spelled in the CD booklet). Thomas Reiner is a composer, writer and producer based in Melbourne. He coordinates music composition and has designed a PhD program in research-based composition at Monash University.
